Discovering the Wonders of Playa La Bonanza

Our first visit to Playa La Bonanza on Isla Espíritu Santos left a lasting impression, prompting us to return with Logan and Cash on our way back to La Paz to meet up with the grandparents.

The breathtaking landscapes, lively marine life, and gorgeous 2 mile long beach drew us in once again.

We spent a day on shore walking the beach, playing bocce, digging holes and just relaxing in the sun.

Cactus 1 - Logan 0

On January 9th, while exploring a smaller beach on the second day of our Playa La Bonanza visit, Logan and I hiked to the ridge above Punta la Bonanza. We took in the stunning views of the reef and snapped panoramic photos.

On our descent, Logan slipped on loose shale and fell into a cactus, leaving him with painful spikes in his back and arm. He experienced mild shock and needed a moment to recover from the nausea and dizziness while we removed the spikes.

We made it back to the beach, relieved that the cactus was not poisonous, and used tweezers to extract the remaining spikes once we returned to the boat.  Ouch 🌵
